“Come Sing the Blues for Lent” at Trinity United Church
At Trinity United Church in downtown North Bay, we have an unusual way of celebrating the traditional Christian season of Lent: We sing the Blues.
Lent is an ancient tradition: 40 full days of praying! Even today, many people give up something they treasure for the season Lent. Things like: coffee, or beer, or chocolate. When you yearn for those comforts, the hope is that your mind will be drawn to more spiritual subjects!
We’re trying something different: At Trinity, we find that “The Blues” (by which we mean ANY song that searches your heart!) is a way into your Spirit. And we mean ANY song: songs you hear on the radio, songs that perk your ears, songs that remind you of your heartbreaks, especially the songs that bring tears.
At 10:30am, every Sunday of Lent (From Sunday February 22nd to Easter on April 5th) you can join us for worship at Trinity. In addition to our big church choir, we’ll have a different band or musician each Sunday to share THEIR blues-- in a way that will open your heart, and help you explore your Spirit. Please join us. Lent will never be the same!
